The short version
This site is run by Mr. Jacobson for his AP World History and AP U.S. History students at Shanghai American School. There are no accounts, nothing here is graded, and the site collects as little as it can.
Your study progress stays on your device
The study tools (flashcards, practice MCQs, My Plan) save your progress in your browser’s local storage. That data never leaves your device, and no one else can see it, including Mr. Jacobson. Clearing your browser data erases it. My Plan has an export button if you want a backup or want to move your plan to another device.
The AI tutors
Some pages have an AI tutor or grader. Whatever you type there is sent to an AI service to generate the reply. Keep it about history: don’t type your full name, grades, or contact details into a chat box.
Site statistics
The site uses Google Analytics (through Google’s Site Kit plugin) to see which pages students use and which ones they skip. It sets Google cookies and collects standard usage data: pages visited, rough location, device and browser type. That information goes to Google and is covered by Google’s privacy policy. Mr. Jacobson uses it to decide what on the site needs improving.
Server logs
The web host (GoDaddy) and the network in front of it (Cloudflare) keep standard server logs: IP address, browser type, and time of visit. Those exist for security and uptime, and they are managed by those companies under their own policies.
What the site never asks for
No sign-ups, no logins, no comment forms, no contact forms. The site never asks for your name or your email address.
